# About Obsidian *Obsidian* is a [Markdown](https://www.markdownguide.org/) editor, plain and simple. Well, except when it's not. You can extend it in a multitude of ways, perhaps even to a fault, depending on how in the weeds you tend to get with customizing your tools. I feel like it's easy to get stuck in the **planning** of how you want to get something done instead of just **getting the thing done**. That said, *Obsidian* lets you build a text editing environment that is perfectly conducive to how you enjoy writing, if you set aside the time to do so. #obsidian
