# Spirit Island ## Thoughts As of today ([[2026 - August 3 - Monday]]), I still haven't played my copy of *Spirit Island*. I bought it back when tariffs were threatening to cause at least some board game companies to close up shop — I think it was early/mid last year. There was [an update](https://boardgamewire.com/index.php/2026/06/26/spirit-island-set-for-new-publisher-as-designer-declines-flat-river-renewal-plans-complete-art-overhaul/) that a new publisher is working to take over the game's production, but I don't know what will happen with that. In any case, I bought the base game plus some of the higher-end components like the fancy player boards and such. It's a little unfortunate to not get much time on games that you buy.
