# Baking Lightmaps in Unity ## Baking Shadows 1. Make sure the objects that are to have their lighting/shadows baked are marked as **Static** 2. Certain types of lights will bake, and some won't. Check the documentation for specifics. ## Baking Light In General Some recommend not using baked lighting unless in very small or indoor scenes. Assuming the render budget allows, real-time lighting tends to look better (at least in Unity), and doesn't require the dev-ops time investment of baking in lighting maps. #unity #graphics
