# Tremors 2 - Aftershocks
## Thoughts
I wasn't as impressed with this movie as I'd hoped. I remember it being better, to be honest. [[Michael Gross]] as Burt is excellent, as always, but the rest of the cast leaves a bit to be desired. [[Fred Ward]] was fun as Earl, but I think the writing is largely to blame for pacing of the movie being a bit on the inconsistent side.
That all said, it was a pretty entertaining movie at times and the non-CGI creature effects are still excellent. You can tell that they had to use said effects somewhat sparingly in this one, though, as stuff happens off-camera noticeably (or is replaced with CGI) at times. There's even a scene right at the beginning of the movie where Earl is trying to wrangle an unseen animal by looking directly at the camera as a POV shot, but it immediately came across to me as trying to make the stunt of him being dragged by it cheaper to shoot. I think my favorite part of the movie is when it toes just a bit closer to the horror genre. Earl and co. being stranded out in the wilderness at night with strange noises was fun, and the truck seemingly coming to their rescue suddenly stopping in the distance was eerie!
I noticed the audio mixing was a bit strange at times. The massive .50 caliber rifle that Burt uses one time in the movie sounded weirdly quiet, whereas many other sound effects and dialogue were quite loud.
