# Animal Crossing: New Horizons ## Thoughts This Animal Crossing game is pretty, but lacks a lot of the charm that made the older games great. I feel like this keeps happening with a lot of series/IPs where the rough edges get sanded down so much that a lot of the personality is lost in the final product. It's a fun game though for what it is, and I'm sure a lot of people really like it. I think I'll always remember this game with the backdrop of the [[COVID-19 Pandemic|COVID]] pandemic and quarantine happening at the same time. ## Progress [[2026 - April 28 - Tuesday]]: In hindsight, I probably haven't seen a lot of the game even with a decent chunk of hours spent on it. There were a solid few updates over the years, but I just can't seem to stick with it long enough to see everything. I even enjoyed messing around with the home decoration business stuff, but it gets old after a while. ## Entries [[2026 - March 26 - Thursday]]: Not too long ago, I started a new play-through of this game with the new [[Switch 2]] edition patch, but I didn't stick with it too long — I don't think I even played past the second day. The changes they made for Switch 2 are nice, but the fundamentals of the game still just aren't there for me. Maybe whatever a future sequel looks like will be better? [[2024 - August 25 - Sunday]]: I started a new play-through of this again. We'll see how long I stick to it, but I'm enjoying it so far. I think it just lacks some kind of a pizazz that really keeps me from getting drawn into it more.
