I feel like few projects — let alone video game ones — can come back from such a notoriously disastrous launch. All the way back in August of 2016 this game released in a buggy, unfinished, and a form that wasn't at all representative of how the developers (and CEO especially) hyped it up. Fast forward to now ([[2024 - September 3 - Tuesday]]), and they've released their 5.0 update in the last couple of months. To their credit, they've completely turned around the originally "overwhelmingly negative" sentiment of players:

That scary red spike is evidence of the admittedly entertaining crash and burn of the game on launch. It was so completely off from the scale portrayed in trailers and previews. In any case, I've picked up the game on Steam since it's on sale for about $24, and I'm going to give it a try finally — crazy to think it's been **over 8 years** now since the original release date.

I just loaded in, and it still has my save files from 7/26/2018 when I bought and refunded the game. Hopefully it's a lot more fun this time — six years later.
