Madness
Overview
A state of extreme anger, foolishness, or unreasonable behavior.
In Media
Madness is a common occurrence in media themed around eldritch things. Beings like Cthulu or unknowable forces like what’s shown in Color Out of Space tend to cause madness — intentional or otherwise — as a side effect of merely existing. It’s also a common mechanic in games like Eldritch Horror, requiring you to manage not only your physical health, but your very psyche as well.
